Large monochrome samplers possess a timeless elegance that has captivated embroidery enthusiasts for generations. Made entirely in a single color, they highlight the richness of alphabets, the delicacy of friezes, and the precision of needlework. This piece, composed of a remarkable interplay of letters and delicate motifs, invites you to reconnect with the tradition of antique samplers while enjoying the pleasure of a long-term embroidery project.
Designed by DMC and Création Point de Croix, this creation plays on the sobriety of a deep red monochrome to reveal all the beauty of the alphabets and ornaments that make up the motif. The different letters are harmoniously arranged in a balanced composition where every detail contributes to creating a refined whole. The three complementary motifs, made in miniature, add an extra touch of finesse and recall the techniques used on the most beautiful ancient works.
The pattern was embroidered on DMC 11-thread/cm linen fabric, worked over 2 warp threads and 2 weft threads. The three secondary motifs are worked with 1 strand over 1 warp thread and 1 weft thread to achieve exceptional fineness and a particularly elegant finish.
This creation can also be made on 5.5 stitches/cm Aida fabric for the main part. Experienced embroiderers will, however, particularly appreciate the authentic result obtained on linen, especially for the miniature embroidered elements.
The charts are printed with symbols and colors (DMC ref.) on 6 pages.
