Affectionately nicknamed "La Bonne Mère" (The Good Mother) by Marseilles residents, this basilica has watched over the inhabitants, sailors, and fishermen who sail the Mediterranean waters for over 150 years. Visible from almost all areas of the city, it offers an exceptional panoramic view of Marseille, its Old Port, the Frioul islands, and the sea as far as the eye can see. Its Romanesque-Byzantine architecture, its facades with contrasting stones, and its famous golden statue of the Virgin make it one of the most visited monuments in the south of France.

This cross-stitch creation captures all the majesty of this Marseilles symbol. The bright and warm hues evoke the Mediterranean atmosphere, while the architectural details highlight the elegance of the edifice. The design was embroidered on an ecru Aida 5.5 stitches/cm fabric from DMC. This support highlights the color contrasts and architectural details of the monument while maintaining excellent legibility of the pattern. You can also create this design on 11-thread/cm linen fabric embroidered over 2 warp threads and 2 weft threads. The resulting dimensions will be identical. Ecru or natural fabrics harmonize particularly well with the warm and luminous colors inspired by Mediterranean heritage.
