Early 19th-century samplers are true testaments to life. Far more than simple embroidery exercises, they reflect the beliefs, interests, and daily environment of those who created them. This superb sampler, dated 1826, brings together a multitude of symbolic motifs, blending religious references, decorative elements, flowers, animals, and familiar objects in a composition as surprising as it is fascinating.

Conceived from an antique piece and re-edited by DMC and Création Point de Croix, this creation perfectly illustrates the richness of historical samplers. An elegant floral basket occupies a central place within a teeming ensemble where alphabets, ornaments, and unexpected motifs coexist, such as this lobster that still intrigues today. Every detail contributes to telling the story of its young embroiderer and makes this work a precious witness to textile heritage.

The design was embroidered on DMC 11-thread/cm linen fabric, worked over 2 warp threads and 2 weft threads. This traditional support respects the spirit of antique samplers and particularly highlights the richness of the motifs as well as the many nuances that make up the embroidery.

This creation can also be made on Aida fabric 5.5 stitches/cm to facilitate embroidery work while maintaining similar dimensions. Both supports allow you to fully enjoy the beauty and complexity of this historical work.

The charts are printed with symbols and colors (DMC ref.) on 6 pages.
