Blue monochromatic works hold a special place in the history of embroidery. Highly prized from the 19th century onwards, this color symbolized elegance, delicacy, and refinement. Even today, it captivates traditional embroidery enthusiasts with its softness and its ability to highlight the smallest details of a pattern. This magnificent floral sampler perfectly illustrates this timeless heritage.
Conceived by DMC and Création Point de Croix from an antique piece, this creation combines an elegant floral composition with a delicate central alphabet. The flowers harmoniously frame the miniature embroidered letters, creating a subtle contrast between the decorative richness of the border and the finesse of the alphabet. The ensemble forms a particularly balanced work that recalls the most beautiful samplers preserved in ancient collections.
The model was embroidered on a DMC 11 count linen fabric, worked over 2 warp threads and 2 weft threads. The central alphabet, meanwhile, is created with 1 strand over 1 warp thread and 1 weft thread to achieve all the characteristic fineness of antique works. This technique brings a lot of elegance and lightness to the whole.
This creation can also be made on 14-count Aïda fabric for the main part. However, more experienced embroiderers will particularly appreciate the authentic result obtained on linen, especially for the creation of the central miniature alphabet.
The charts are printed with symbols and colors (DMC reference) on 6 pages.
