Old samplers are among the most emblematic works of traditional embroidery. Long created to learn letters, numbers, and different stitches, they are now appreciated for their timeless elegance and authentic charm. In this monochrome version, blue replaces the traditional red and adds a particularly refined softness and delicacy to the whole.
Designed by DMC and Création Point de Croix from an old model, this creation highlights all the decorative richness of old-fashioned samplers. Alphabets, friezes, and small motifs follow each other harmoniously in a balanced composition where the deep blue of the threads delicately contrasts with the natural texture of the linen. A sober and elegant work that will appeal to lovers of traditional embroidery and timeless decoration.
The model was embroidered on DMC 11 threads/cm linen fabric, worked over 2 warp threads and 2 weft threads. This traditional support brings a lot of character to the work and elegantly emphasizes the nuances of blue, while respecting the spirit of old samplers.
This creation can also be made on 5.5 stitches/cm Aida fabric to facilitate the embroidery work while maintaining similar dimensions. Both supports highlight the finesse of the letters and ornaments that make up the pattern.
The charts are printed with symbols and colors (DMC ref.) on 6 pages.
