Matryoshkas are icons of Russian popular culture. Invented in 1890, these dolls have always been made in the same way: hand-carved from a piece of wood and delicately painted. This cushion is just as delicate, but much easier to make! This design by Angela Poole is surprisingly simple. The headscarf is made up of large blocks of colour that allow for quick progress, while the patchwork pattern on the dress is both colourful and very interesting. If you embroider this design with three threads instead of two, you will get a nice thick texture. This will give you a magnificent and vibrant cushion that you will want to hug as much as display in your home! The design was embroidered on 11-count white linen fabric. To be embroidered on white or light-coloured fabric.
The chart is printed with symbols and colours (Ref: DMC) on 4 pages.
