The painting shown on this embroidered canvas is "Young Woman with a Parasol Turned to the Left" (1896), depicting one of the master's stepdaughters. The young woman in a white dress is rendered on sky blue linen, embroidered with thread to give it its full delicacy. The cloudy blue sky and its bed of wild grasses and wildflowers are enchanting. The designer Marie-Thérèse Saint Aubin nicknamed this character Suzanne... The model was embroidered on 12-thread sky blue linen. To be embroidered on ecru or colored fabric.
