A seagull takes flight, fins ripple beneath the waves, a scarf flutters in the wind... This cross-stitched shawl captures all the poetry of the seaside, with its graceful seahorses and beaded shells.
Fabric: 8 stitches/cm embroidery fabric, blue (close to DMC No. 3750) — or another color of your choice (seafoam green, etc.). You can also use 12 stitches/cm fabric by stitching over 2 threads; the motif will be slightly larger.
Shawl Dimensions: 27 cm wide (23 cm + hems) × 190 cm high (2 assembled 95 cm panels).
Thread: Two skeins of mouliné No. 746. A small amount of superfine silk can be used for the seahorse fins (replace with a strand of ecru mouliné if necessary).
Beads: Ready-made beaded fringe, or seed beads and drilled shells to string. Have a beading needle and fine beading thread ready.
The charts are printed with symbols and colors (DMC references) on 6 pages.
Motif Sizes:
Bottom seahorse: 79 stitches wide × 127 stitches high
2 seahorses: 34 stitches wide × 127 stitches high
The shell: 42 stitches wide × 35 stitches high
The small shells: 11 stitches wide × 34 stitches high
