Among the great classics of traditional embroidery, the red sampler holds a very special place. Sober, elegant, and timeless, it perpetuates a centuries-old tradition where young embroiderers learned to master their needles by reproducing alphabets, numbers, and decorative motifs. The simplicity of monochrome red embroidery on light fabric gives these works a charm that transcends eras without ever going out of style.
Designed by Perrette Samouiloff and Création Point de Croix, this creation revisits the spirit of old samplers with great finesse. The carefully ordered letters create a harmonious embroidery where each element naturally finds its place. The balance of proportions and the elegance of deep red recall the most beautiful works preserved in family heirlooms and antique linen collections.
The design was embroidered on a DMC 11 count/cm linen fabric in white, worked over 2 warp threads and 2 weft threads. This traditional support particularly highlights the fineness of the motif and the delicate contrast of red on a light background, while respecting the authentic spirit of old samplers.
This design can also be made on 14-count Aida fabric (5.5 stitches/cm) to facilitate the embroidery work while maintaining similar dimensions. Whatever the chosen support, the work retains all its classic and timeless character.
The charts are printed with symbols and colors (DMC references) on 6 pages.
